Hamas, Abbas, war crimes--and you

On July 8, 2014, Israel attacked Gaza. The attack came after Hamas in Gaza pummelled Israel with more than 230 rockets. Each of those rockets was fired at Jewish civilians. Most were fired from an Arab neighbourhood. 

For each rocket fired, the Arabs committed up to three war crimes. They fired from within their own civilian population; they used their own civilians as human shields; and they fired at another’s civilian population.

This tells you all you need to know about the Arab war against Israel: it is a criminal war. Virtually everything the Arab does in his fight to destroy Israel is a crime—including its criminal goal, the destruction of a sovereign state.

The Arab is not ‘innocent’. He is not a ‘victim’. He is a racist criminal who commits crimes to pursue a racist criminal goal: genocide against the Jewish state of Israel.

If you don’t believe that, go online. Read the Hamas Charter. It’s all there—the goal, the racism, the hate.

True to its goal, Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel since it took over Gaza after the 2005 unilateral Israeli disengagement. It has fired thousands of rockets at Israeli Jewish civilians.

Hamas won’t stop. In early July, 2014, it fired 130+ rockets at Israeli civilians over a five-day period. Then it followed that barrage immediately with a sixth day during which it fired more than 100 more rockets at Israeli civilians in a single 24-hour period.

That barrage—more than 230 rockets raining on Jewish cities over five days--was too much for Israel. A sovereign state, Israel has the right to live in peace and security (see the UN Charter). It has a right to defend itself. It has the ‘Responsibility to Protect’ its citizens.

Therefore, on July 8, 2014, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Israel’s Defence Force (IDF) to attack Gaza. The purpose of this attack was to stop Hamas from firing rockets into Israel.

Almost immediately, the other half of the Hamas-Fatah ‘Palestinian’ unity government (Mahmoud Abbas) announced that he was angry. He declared that he will go to the United Nations. He wanted the ‘International community’—as well as the UN Security Council--to stop ‘Israeli aggression’ (“Abbas Says He'll Turn to International Community Against Israel”, Arutz Sheva, July 9, 2014).

If you were looking for a good definition of ‘gall’, this is it: the Arab starts a war with Israel, then accuses Israel of ‘aggression’’!

The accusation is an outrage. It is a lie. But it will be heard.

Here’s why: the anti-Israel industry is a sophisticated war-machine. Its goal is not peace and security for a new ‘Palestine’. Its goal is to demonize and then de-legitimize (destroy) the state of Israel.  Moreover, it knows something about us we’d prefer not to admit: most of us do not read beyond the headlines.

The anti-Israel industry doesn’t aim to be fair. That’s not its purpose. Its purpose is to generate anti-Israel ‘sound-bites’ (“The Palestinian people must be protected”; Israeli attacks on Gaza are a dangerous escalation”; “Israeli aggression must be stopped”).

These sound-bites create headlines that make Israel look like a brutal bully (“Israel pounds Gaza with air and naval strikes in move against Hamas”, The Guardian, July 8, 2014; “Israel presses air assault as Hamas fires salvo of cross-border rockets”, The Washington Post, July 8, 2014; “Israeli warplanes pound Gaza”, USA Today, July 9, 2014)).

These sound-bites create anti-Israel word-images. For example, Israel attacking Gaza is ‘like [boxing champion] Mike Tyson punching a toddler (from The Guardian, as quoted in The Times of Israel, “Gaza war seen rather differently in US, UK newspapers”, July 11, 2014).

We read headlines. We remember startling images. Without realizing it, we begin to believe what we read: Israel is a dangerous aggressor. No wonder Abbas wants the International community to intervene!

Israel is at war. Our enemies attack us. Israel is the main target. But so are you. They want your heart. They want your mind. They want you to believe in them, their cause and their hate.

The anti-Israel industry supports a racist war against the Jewish state. It supports Hamas, which uses its own people as human shields—and praises itself for doing so (“Rockets downed over Tel Aviv as Israeli forces hammer Gaza”, Times of Israel, July 10, 2014).

It supports Abbas, who wages a war of lies against Israel (“Abbas: Israel 'Committing Genocide' in Gaza”, Arutz Sheva, July 10, 2014): Hamas uses human shields. When those human shields die, Abbas declares that Israel commits ‘genocide’!

The Hamas-Fatah unity government—along with the anti-Israel industry—use war crimes to fight against Israel. Together, they incite the Arab population to commit war crimes. They commit crimes to pursue a criminal goal.

They want you to ennoble the Arab cause. They want you to turn against the Jewish state.
